    Revelation

I question this. I don't think you can measure and compare these things in a meaningful way. I think aspects of freedom/security have different degrees of impact on people, everything else is just opinion.

    "Salvation" and "Enlightenment"

I quoted NOT that part, to me, what is good or not in the world is always linked to human nature, and I don't see human nature changing. Isn't Trump saying the opposite of what I am saying, Make America Great AGAIN. I mean... Great at what, be specific! No, you now have to live in shame forever.

    "Salvation" and "Enlightenment"

Well a lot of us feel we have a lot to learn from other peoples insights. Some people appear to be very insightful to me. This, like any relationship can, of course, be abused. I don't think that a realistic solution for such abuse is to not seek advice and... Sigh... enlightenment from others.

That would be a very broad definition of 'desire', no? Through a broad enough definition of the word, any action could be considered an act towards a desire.

Again, for me, as I see it, it revolves around the Person, the true person (obviously not the ego self as such) Care to elaborate? These words I can't help reading as in psychology.

    "Salvation" and "Enlightenment"

Yes, no matter how I try I can't really get a grip of what enlightenment is, it seems that it is incomparable with my understanding of the world. One thing is for sure, I distrust every word of anyone who claim they are enlightened.

I think we are all full of expectations, and I think you are too!

Sometimes it's hard for us to understand answers that differ a lot from our expectations, no?

    Married Catholic clergy

Implying that it is a simple question. Sometimes you seem to expect Catholics to read the Bible like the rules pamphlet to a game. "A rosary gives +5 to Faith." RJM simply feels that it has meaning, that it helps, not in a quantifiable "scientific" way.

    1492? Vikings? Egyptians? Nope?

Here comes a Cup of Contrary: I do find the idea that land was populated and discovered at one single point to be a bit simple. The very notion is probably a leftover from the colonial era where the wast actually saw itself as some sort of cradle of civilization, if not mankind.

    Fascinating and troubling discourse

What? I don't have the patience for podcasts, but it sounds interesting. Could you elaborate on how Islam wouldn't be a religion?

I'm still here! I just have to give my tired mind a little time to absorb all of this!

    Faith and Belief

I do apologize if I hijacked the thread with my secular ways! It was not my intent to steer away from Faith with a capital F! I did enjoy the thoughts expressed!

    Faith and Belief

Over here both words translate into the same one, tro. I can sense the nuances of the English words, but they seem to be used synonymously a lot of the time. We are talking about a religious context, would the meaning of the words shift if we stepped into a secular context?
