    What was your favorite job?

Many things really, I liked the order (uniforms, rules, sameness) and loved the feeling of being one big family. I liked keeping the image of the British army in check. I liked helping people, abused wives, accident victims, locals who were abused by our soldiers, etc. I liked knowing that if...

Do you believe in Santa Claus?

Yes I do, in the form of St Nicholas and like Wil it's the spirit of charity and joy he has left with us that touches my heart every year.

What is the problem with Islam?

MashAllah, it's good to 'meet' you brother. Hopefully we can help each other and learn from each other as we go For some reason the forum doesn't like working on my iPad so my sentences keep cutting off. Will try to check things before I post in future.

What is the problem with Islam?

Salam Maitreya As you believe in truth, pure love and prosperity for all perhaps dropping the snarky "calling yourselves" and "just as IS do" comments, it may help discussion. The age of Aisha at the time of marriage is highly debatable and we have no completely reliable source to state her...

What is the problem with Islam?

I'm a convert too (gosh almost 11 years now). I know there are Hadith speaking about women not walking in the middle of the road, so they aren't bustling around with men but that's far removed from walking behind your mahram. I live in Egypt at the moment but spent the last year living in Saudi...

    Still around?

Salams to one and all. So who is still around from the old crowd, who's left, who's joined, who bites the heads off jelly babies and who smells? I've been away so long but during a Google search today the forum came up and I remembered how much I loved our discussions here, so I'm back ...

    I am apalled

Wil my friend, take heart. Forums are what the members make it and what they allow other members to make it, time to circle the wagons perhaps. Anyone was free to read or ignore posts by Thomas, free to agree or disagree but this forum was certainly never a place for people to ridicule or...

What is the problem with Islam?

May I also point out that here in the Middle East Saturday isn't a weekend day, it's a normal working day. People here tend to work 6 days a week, with Friday off.

Sudanese judge orders death for an alleged apostate!

And sadly she was arrested again trying to leave the country :( wa alaikum salam Amica. I'm not sure international pressure had very much to do with it. Since introducing the death penalty for apostacy they haven't killed anyone despite numerous sentences and the international community never...

    The binding/sacrifice of...

"...to follow a voice that tells you to kill your innocent son is tantamount to flying an airplane into a building because you think it's what God wants." That would be true if you were some random dude who had a dream telling him to kill his son. However, here we are talking about a Prophet...

Who In Your Opinion Was The Last Khaliyfah Of The Ummah (Muslims).

I would agree that other than Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz (called by classical scholars the 5th Rightly Guided Caliph) they were all political positions taken by people who desired wealth and power. If you haven't read the biography of Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz I would urge you to do so. He only ruled for...
