Has medicine and nuclear energy done some good to humanity? Or we should continue with cutting trees for fuel?

    Who created God?

Both die. The problem is what happens after. For most atheists (I do not speak for al atheists), there is no after, nothing to worry about that. For theists, heaven if you have dittoed the line or hell if you have not.

    Who created God?

Don't you see the discord between the two sentences? Just like adults, Allah tests innocent children too putting them to disasters, diseases, pain and death.

    Who created God?

'Advaita' thinks of two levels of existence. The Absolute Truth and the Pragmatic Truth. What Sankara said is the Absolute Truth. Pragmatic Truth is our perceived universe. But you will know this if you are familiar with 'Advaita' philosophy as some of the members here are. Your beliefs are...

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

    Who created God?

In 'Advaita' Hinduism, enlightenment is instantaneous when you understand that you are what makes up the universe, realize the all things, living or non-living, are no different than you; and what constitute you is the same as what constitutes even a stone. Don't you have carbon, calcium...

    Who created God?

Yes, I believe in after life, not in reincarnation. Our molecules leave the body and join millions of living and non-living things. Our molecules have reincarnated in other forms. No, I do not believe in any such place. Those who do not believe in God, the atheists, can also be good people. I do...

    Who created God?

Of course, I know - We do not need any salvation according to 'Advaita', the non-dual philosophy of Hinduism. We are none other than what constitutes the universe, Brahman. What salvation do we need? Need for salvation is a fetter to the mind. Sankaracharya (8th Century) said: "na me dvesha...

    Who created God?

Well, that has been claimed by many people. Joseph Smith said the way to God is through him. Muhammad said that the way of God is through him. Bahaollah, the Iranian, said that the way to God is through him and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, a Punjabi, said that the way to God is throgh him. There are...

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

Of course, there is no sure answer at the moment. That is what is being done - finding the best answer. Morality is part of social sciences and it is well-researched. It differs from one society to another. There is no absolute morality. "Coming of age in Samoa" - Margaret Mead, and so many...

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

A physicalist would not be satisfied with that. He/she will ask 'why?' There is no reason to believe that other answers are correct. Consciousness is an emergent property of brain. You are right. We take chemical recycling as fact, what is true is play of the four fundamental forces of nature...

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

This question is for future. We have no answer for nature of reality at the moment. The option is 'Goddidit'. As for afterlife and purpose of things. we do have the answers. Afterlife is chemical recycling and there is no purpose for life other than to continue life. Dinosaurs had the same...

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

On a second thought, Carrot and sword is logical for a society. I agree. Yeah, I do not have to defend any differences between my views and science.

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

IMHO, they are products of social necessity, the carrot and sword system, not of any logic. Well, people argue on all things, many of them illogically. I am fortunate, because my 'Advaita' view does not differ even a bit from the scientific view.

What is the actual evidence for the existence of Jesus?

That is OK but I tend to fly off at a tangent, so I deffer.

"Believing in science" - what does that mean?

My problem is with superstitious religious beliefs like God, soul, heaven, hell, judgment, etc. No problem with Euclid, but with flat-earthers.
