Question: Why has there been all sorts of cries of "hate crime!" regarding the recent Prof Gates incident, which has very little evidence of it actually being a hate crime, whereas nary a word about "hate crime" was mentioned regarding George Sodini gunning down a bunch of women in an aerobics class because he hated women? There is plenty of evidence that Sodini hated women, and this is documented quite well, in his own words.

I'm thoroughly confused.

Perhaps because what you describe is unambiguously a hate crime? Now that you have a black president the press will want to find angles to explore the changing, or otherwise, lot of the black person in American society. You need a first lady on board

yeh obama will catalyse by his very color the underlying issues previously sidestepped or avoided; things comes in waves or generational upsurges so its been 30 years since MLK and inequalities may still be too evident to ignore?.
