Namaste all,

well.. i've recently gotten into a discussion about iced cream and which flavor is the best.

it is my considered opinion that Vanilla is the finest of the flavors.

and, no Zenda, i don't need an iced cream koan :)

"Mint with tiny pieces of black chocolate" is my preferred flavour.

LOL!! Ice cream thread. :)

Mint-choc chip is the winning flavour - especially mint choc-chip cornettoes, though I've not found any recently. So it's chocolate chip ice cream when I treat the family - though preferably the type that lists milk or cream as the main ingredient, rather than vegetable oil.

Kindest Regards!

I can't help but wonder what this may reveal about us?

I used to enjoy High's "Brownie nut fudge", a very chocolate indulgence, when I lived in Virginia. (It is a family owned local chain there)

Since moving to Florida, I have taken a liking to "Moose Tracks", vanilla with tiny peanut butter cups and a big dollop of fudge. Yum. :)

I have a number of them (ahem):

1. Butter Pecan
2. Black Walnut
3. Edy's Grand Light French Silk (chocolate mocha mousse mixed with bittersweet chocolate chunks swirled with vanilla mousse)
4. Rainbow Sherbet
5. Lemon frozen yogurt
6. Blueberry cheesecake with cashews mixed in (don't recall the name of the flavor, though :( )
7. Baskin - Robbins Daquiri ice
8. Baskin - Robbins Cold Duck ice
9. Caramel Cashew

I have a few others, but I'll have to list them later. :D

Quite the Connoisseur, I see! :)

Iced Cream? Ice(d)? Why, whatever I can afford at the farmers market after selling buggy whips to the yankees.

But, anyhoo, I like french vanilla bean with real honey on it. As a vegan I haven't had it for years and years and years, however. Someday maybe there will be consensual dairy expression and honey procuring.

Heh. Somehow I feel reluctant to reveal my choice as it might reveal too much of my character.

Black cherry

OR

Plain chocolate (particularly Breyer's, Philadelphia style)

OR

Frozen vanilla and chocolate custard from Rita's (a local chain)

With metta,
Zenda :)

You're a Ethiopean virgin? LOL

I haven't even seen black cherry since I was a kid. Living on a budget sucks.

Hmm, when outside is over 30 º C, I won't say no to any kind of flavor. :)

Right now, I'm eating one of Hershey, vanilla ice dipped in a Hershey chocolatey coating with almonds.

Anyone, wants some ?:)

:) Hi everybody,

I did a quizz about ice cre flavor on iVillage main. Initially, I wanted to send a link of the quizz, but when I finished it, I've realised there was no question about ice crem at all. Instead, the results are more interesting, so have fun !

What Ice Cream Flavor Are You?

You may not know it, but a pint of your favorite ice cream can speak gallons about your character. Loosely based on the science of "flavorology," our fun quiz can tell you all about your ice cream personality -- and which flavor you're most compatible with!

Strawberry ice cream types are naturally loyal, honest and trustworthy. No doubt you have a devoted circle of friends who rely on you for the right answer to any moral dilemma. Like Chocolate Chip types, you tend to set high standards for yourself, but you are also somewhat shy and reserved. And you don't like to admit it, but you're also a tad pessimistic. Maybe you're just disappointed that no one can seem to live up to your own sense of responsibility and forthrightness. When it comes to romance and relationships, Strawberry types do well with optimistic, outgoing Chocolate Chips. Fun fact: Strawberry is tied with Butter Pecan as the third most popular ice cream flavor.

If you're a Chocolate ice cream type, you are flirtatious, charming and even a little dramatic. No doubt you're an intuitive and sensitive person who puts a high value on family, relationships and romance. But your instincts may sometimes steer you wrong: You tend to be easily influenced in directions that you know aren't the best for you, and you have a tendency toward self-indulgence. Still, your liveliness and your trusting nature have earned you many admirers and friends. When it comes to romance and relationships, Chocolate types are compatible with reliable Butter Pecans and high-focus, high-energy Chocolate Chips. Fun fact: Chocolate is the second most popular ice cream flavor.

Butter Pecan ice cream types are organized, put-together, and generally valued for their fairness, efficiency and lack of pretension -- you won't see a Butter Pecan type putting on airs. In fact, it may be hard for a no-nonsense Butter Pecan type like you to express yourself at all, even though you’re privately quite sympathetic and observant. No doubt you like to plan ahead and take charge, which means you're often over-committed. When it comes to romance and relationships, you’re most compatible with your own kind -- other Butter Pecan types who appreciate hard work and good sense. Fun fact: Butter Pecan is tied with Strawberry for the third most popular ice cream flavor.

If you're a Chocolate Chip ice cream type, you're a creative force to be reckoned with. No doubt you've got a competitive streak a mile wide. The good news is that it brings out the best in you by forcing you to live up to your own demanding standards. Still, you can be rather unforgiving at times with those who don't share your vision and drive. Friends value your magnetism, charm and originality. When it comes to romance and relationships, Chocolate Chips are best off with high-achieving Butter Pecans and empathetic, insightful Chocolates. Fun fact: Chocolate chip ice cream lovers tend to also indulge in other “chunky” flavors, such as Cookie Dough, Mint Chip and Rocky Road.

Contrary to what you may expect, Vanilla ice cream types aren't bland or boring. Rather, you’re probably quite gregarious, impulsive, fun loving and expressive. You may have a hard time making up your mind -- Vanillas are known for never saying no, even when they probably should. Vanilla types also tend to take a romantic, hopeful view of life. Your motto: Live for the moment, and everything will work out fine. When it comes to romance and relationships, Vanilla types are happiest with your own kind -- only someone equally spontaneous and energetic will do. Fun fact: Vanilla is far and away the most popular ice cream flavor.

Breyers natural vanilla bean. Also vanilla with carmel and/or fudge swirls. Or raspberry swirls. It has to be high quality vanilla.

I also like those premade "drumsticks," vanilla with chocolate and nuts.

:)

Namaste Alexa,

thank you for the post.

Namaste Vaj,

I don't know about that band, but I agree with their song ! :)

I didn't eat a lot of ice cream this summer. The weather here was most of the time cold. I hope next summer will be warmer.

Oh, I think we are more "gourmands" (fond of) for any kind of sweets. Those who say no are very rare among us. That remebers me I have to prepare for next week a huge cake (at least for 20 in my dept.) with a lot of whipped cream and strawberries. Miam ! My supervisor begins ramadam at the end of next week, so he cracks now for all the cakes and chocolates ! :D
