A question regarding Kosher / Kashrut

It has long been a matter of curiosity to me...are horses, dogs and cats Kosher?

If horses are not Kosher, why/how was Solomon able to build the stables for a cavalry? (This not so long after building the Temple...)

I'm not sure if the Jewish peoples have a history with dogs and cats, but both have a long history with humans in general, so may I presume whatever answer that applies to horses applies equally to dogs and cats?

I presume you are using the term kosher in its broader context not in the dietary sense.
