Well, I'm male, 54 years old, happily married to Barb for 28 years plus, liberal Episcopalian Christian in belief, student of a wide range of topics, about half of which Brian seems to have included here! 8)

I'm a regular on the Straight Dope Message Board, where I found out about this site, and presently an Administrator of the Pizza Parlor (a Christian message board).

I, Susma Rio Sep, locked out from SDMB

(Note to Brian: if you think this message inappropriate, please delete it. I want to start an introduction about myself, but can't find the new thread button.)

Now, for the members of this board:

Susma Rio Sep comes from the SDMB where he has been locked out. I thought that it was some kind of system operational glitch that prevents me from accessing the SDMB. I tried to contact moderators there and the administration, but always landed on the same access denied return as reproduced below.

So I registered again in another name: Homobonus, and addressed an inquiry to the SDMB board on “Questions about the Board,” where a certain Lyn told me that: Yeah, I have been locked out without notice, because there were several warnings and I did not straighten up. Just the same, I was able as Homobonus to post some three message which came out but later were deleted, except the first one where Homobonus exhibits the label ‘BANNED’. I wrote to the Contact Us link and to Cecil Adams asking when or how the banned status can be lifted. Well, I guess that’s the end of my relations with SDMB. It was fun for me while I was allowed access there. Some party or parties there of authority reached the decision to lock me out, motu proprio or on the complaints of some other parties.

I will try my best to follow the rules here. But the way I see it, my trouble there was that I thought I was doing the right thing in the right way; but it did not seem so to others. Was I really in bad faith? I don’t think so. Well, that’s my side of the story.

I am interested in many things. If you have some troubles with the pump of your car power steering system, let me know, I think I can help you.

Polycarp, I was looking for you here; I found you here through Google. I sent you a private message earlier, but you seem not to have noticed it or preferred not to reply. So I found you here in the self-introduction board. If you feel offended for my looking you up here, may I implore you in the bowels of Jesus Christ, not to. O.K.? So, I am reproducing my private message to you here.

Dear friend:

Are you the same Polycarp as in SDMB?

May I inconvenience you with the following inquiry and request:

I can’t post since some days ago in SDMB. Have I been penalized with exclusion. How do I come back to my posting access?

This is the message I keep getting in trying to access the boards for
posting, and other acts:

Certainly, as stated earlier, it would be much preferred if business from other forums stayed at other forums. It would hardly be conducive to good manners if people were unable to relax in one forum if they were going to be directly approached with issues from others.

Except for the purposeful and constructive fostering of close ties, no forum business should intrude on another - it can present awkward problems at best, and an inter-forum flame war at worst (I've already had to address that situation here, and prevent the fire raging through the moment I saw the flame arrive).

Please note that I do understand your situation and concern, but the above post *will* be the end of your attempts to involve SDMB issues here. Any future messages will be deleted - feel free to leave your e-mail - perhaps in a new thread properly introducing yourself - so that anyone who wishes to can contact you.

But in such an instance please do leave your e-mail only, and please do not use such a post to continue involving SDMB issues.

This is not intended to be an overly harsh stance - it simply has to be the necessary case, for the good of both communities. This is especially as the comparative-religion forum is still in early development, and still vulnerable to communal disruption that larger forums can dilute.

As for "start new thread" - it should be almost the same as the SDMB board (I am a casual visitor there) - but in the event, this is what you should be looking for - it;s at the top and bottom of a thread page.

Hope that helps. :)

As the other moderator of this forum, I will move any questionable posts that I personally see (after discussing it with the other moderators, including our beloved I, Brian.) I do not like the prospect of doing this, but I'd rather have a peaceful place to say "Hej," than the prospect of a possible argument/schism.

I'm sorry if this posting seems a bit harsh, but I would rather get this off my ample chest.
