Riddle me this.

Pick up any local paper, and you will see a few adverts from people who profess to read the tarot.

And yet, there is an apparent total absence of people doing the rune stones.

Why is this?

Anyone 'In the know' care to offer their view?

Are the runes considered rubbish compared to the tarot?

Is it that the runes are perhaps harder to do?

Must be a reason..

Am I wrong?

Probably because to the general public, Tarot is well-known, while Runes are not. I'm sure there are lots of folks out there reading runes - they may not bother advertising it, though, since saying you're a Tarot Reader gets the point across. Most folks I know who read tarot also do runes - but qually, none of them advertise as readers of either.
