How Was Your Week?

I have to reschedule my colonoscopy because I haven't been able to hold down the prep solution (I even vomited the cr@p up in front of the doctor in the room after two swallows of the sh!t.) At least my blood sugar level was 116... Tovarish is keeping a close eye on me

It's a shame that the doctor won't let me take the pill for the same results as the liquid's supposed to have. :(

You should have thrown up ON the doctor. I think that would have more strongly gotten your point across!

P.S. There's a pill one can take instead of the goop? I was not aware of that.

From what one of the staff said as I was about to leave, yes, but this particular doctor doesn't like using them for the procedure. *shrug*

They're the largest pills I've ever seen. I lost count of the number of times they wedged in my throat and I gagged and wheezed them down. A friend of mine just had one done. His doctor didn't give him the pills or the goop. Simply said liquid diet only for three days and some ex-lax before the procedure. Saw him yesterday and he said it went fine. Lucky duck.

I'll trade ya. We got up to 82°F, not including the humidity.

I'm sorry that I don't have the temperature in centigrade (my math sucks untreated Rio de Janeiro water iykwim.)

I'd be willing to take you up on that. 82F's about 28C. Where do we make the trade?

I'll have to ask the staff at the GI clinic if they'll allow me the option to do that instead (still vomiting up the cr@p that I'm supposed to take...) I can think of what I can "eat" during the "liquid diet only" days...

I avoided the riot this past weekend here in Milwaukee (stayed home with the fuzzy faces.)

I feel sorry for the people who worked at the petrol station/convenience store that was burned to the ground as well as the people who used to frequent it.

It's been a good week for me so far. My right thumb and index finger are bleeding! I was clearing out a bedroom closet and found my old guitar from my rock star days. It turns out this old boy can still pound out a lick or two! I never did use a pick, but I suppose the calluses on those digits were considerably thicker back in the day.

Ever tried looking up your old band mates?
No, not much chance of a reunion anyway. There was only 4 members including myself. The drummer and keyboard player have since passed. One from an overdose and the other from throat cancer. Last I heard our bassist went back to Puerto Rico when his brother, our keyboard player, died.

Been riding the bureaucracy merry-go-round all week trying to get my son's girlfriend a visa so she can accompany us to the states for the Christmas holidays. Unmarried Aboriginal female minor traveling without parents, escorted by white Australian photographer and family. Questions, questions, questions...

Oh man, I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall for that interview!
Haven't even had an interview yet. That was just on the phone with the American Consulate after her visa waiver request was denied. Aussie SS conducted a similar telephone interrogation when I helped her parents file for her national passport.

What's the hold-up do you think? Her age? Ethnicity?

I guess they're trying to curb any worries about human trafficking, especially of an underage person (although I'm sure that Aussie wouldn't do anything like that, no matter what.) I mean, we're talking about the US government here, plus it's an election year...

For the US it has a little to do with ethnicity, but mostly concerns over age, gender and being unaccompanied by a parent. For Australia it has a little to do with age and gender, but a lot more to do with ethnicity. Native peoples just have a lot harder time getting government cooperation down here. Aboriginals established a provisional government in 1990, but as I discovered when I lodged the visa waiver, neither Australia nor the US fully recognize it.

At this point I'm just trying to get her a national passport in place of the provisional government issue and we'll take it from there. It's a slow go though.

I found out earlier today that I cannot wear my favourite sneakers ever again the hard way: the outer sole literally fell off of the right shoe. I guess that I'm lucky that I didn't go to class after my physical therapy session (I wanted to, but I had a sneaking suspicion...) The shoes are several years old now, and the soles were coming off anyway. Now, I have to figure out how to stretch out my newest pair (I have the trees specifically designed for this, but I'm not sure how to use them.) I don't want my feet to be rubbed raw by my shoes since such sores are an open invitation to infection which makes it more difficult for someone with diabetes to recover.
