Hello everyone, I am from the Isle of Man and have found this forum through looking at places where many faiths come together.

I love the study of Religion, I love going to many different faiths and their services. There is such a peace and beauty within it.

Lookee there, gotta luv the newcomer welcoming the new comers!

Now I had no idear the Isle of Man was anymore than a tax haven and banking cyberplace....its an actual location where folks actually live and thrive?

Tell us more, are you a native? If so how many generations have lived there, if not...what brought you there? Tell us how it is, I see now smack dab in the middle of the UK?

I'm one or two hours older than you on this site, so, welcome!

Thank you :)

On my Mother's side we have at least 4 generations, I think. However my mother was born in Folkstone, but her mother was Manx, as was her parents and their parents.

I was born in Dover at a military Barracks. My Father being a Irish Ranger. So we moved around a lot when I was younger. We moved back to the Island just after the Gulf War and my father who was invalided out.

So I spent most of my life here on the Island, leaveing in 2003 to go to College and joined the TA, didn't come back to the Island till 2007. I love the Island, I have a good job and always find this place peaceful. I don't care about the cheaper tax, because on the opposite side is that the cost of everything is very high.

If you ever feel like coming over and need a tour guide who knows a lot about the Rock, then I will gladly offer my services :)

Sorry to hear about your father....and I just may have to find my way over there someday....

Now are you an independent country? Under the queen?

Just got back from the Isle of Man myself - welcome, Manxbox. :)

Thank you, yeah we are famous for the kayt Manninagh, it is normally the only thing people know about the Island, that and the TT races.

Yes we are independent and Yes we are under the Queen, sort of. We make our own laws, etc etc but the Queen is our 'Lord' and we have a representative of her in the form of a Lieutenant Governor, who use to have input in our parliament until the 70's but now has no role other than figurehead status.
