Saltmeister
The Dangerous Dinner
Consider the ending of the Battlestar Galactica series.
We are descendants of two different species: (1) naturally-evolved species that developed entirely on this planet and (2) genetically-compatible human-like species either from outer space or from another plane of existence (as suggested by Genesis).
The second species (like the Cylons in BSG) is capable of undergoing resurrection or experiencing visions. The two species mingled and intermarried. Because we are descendants of the second species as well as the first, we too are capable of resurrection and experiencing visions. We have simply forgotten this ability.
Science fiction and popular culture can often help with our imagination when trying to make sense of things like Genesis.
