Of all the places you've worked and of all the jobs you've had, what was your favorite(s) and why? Just to be clear, I'm talking about working for others, not self-employment.

I've had many jobs, but not counting self-employment. My 2 favorites were manager of a woman's shoe store and the many years I spent as an automobile tire salesman.

I was in my early 20's when I managed the woman's shoe store. I didn't make much money and I was treated like crap by upper management, but for a young single man it doesn't get any better than fitting young ladies for shoes all day. Had it not been for them going out of business, I would have never left.

My next job was commissioned tire salesman. This was probably my most favorite. I was expected to show up by a certain time and follow certain procedures, but other that that, I was on my own. All I really had to do was greet customers, assess their needs, fill those needs and collect the appropriate fees for it. If I didn't feel like dealing with customers face to face that day, I was free to work the phones instead. If I wasn't in the mood for that, I could work in the warehouse or service shop. It was always my choice. The money was great too. I loved it. Then one day the company was sold to a large conglomerate and cooperate America reared it's ugly head. Overnight the job I loved was no longer fun and so I moved on yet again.

That's my one workplace motto. If it ceases to be fun, I cease to do it.

I've never actually had a job. At least not one where I had to show up somewhere everyday and punch a time clock. The closest I ever came was when I lived in the states. I wrote product descriptions and took photos for a catalog company. I wasn't on payroll though. I did it as a private contractor. Aside from the occasional lingerie shoot, I hated it.

My favourite jobs weren't exactly paid positions due to the fact that I was too young to earn a paycheck. I worked with my mother in one of them and with my elementary school librarian in a suburb of Pittsburgh in the other. I helped shelve the books in both libraries as well as other behind - the - scenes clerical work for the libraries, including filling out the cards for the card catalogs.

Before you ask, I was is second and third grades when I was working these jobs. So much has changed in the library sciences since then. :(

My favorite job was working at a comic book store for three years in high school. The pay was awful, but I was surrounded by a lot of nice people with shared interests. Plus I got all the free comic books I could read, which meant what little pay I did receive was spent on more useful items.

I thought you liked that job.
Not really mate. Spent an entire afternoon taking pictures of a jar of face cream once. Not exactly my idea of artistic expression.
Is there a favorite project you've worked on?
The projects that stick out the most for me are the ones I didn't actually get paid for. I mean, I got paid a ridiculous amount of money to help shoot a commercial in the states last year, but that didn't mean nearly as much to me as the photos I took for the Aboriginal museum or the Hindu weddings we shot in Fiji gratis.

Military policewoman in the British army. I spent a lot of my time doing red carpet duties and designing recruitment literature and training videos ... loved it and shouldn't have left.

That is interesting. What was it about that job that appealed to you most?

Many things really, I liked the order (uniforms, rules, sameness) and loved the feeling of being one big family. I liked keeping the image of the British army in check. I liked helping people, abused wives, accident victims, locals who were abused by our soldiers, etc. I liked knowing that if push came to shove I was ready to defend my country and people in other countries against genocide.

The one I do now, I work in a mine hard simple work with a paycheck that for once reflects my efforts in a pickle because in reality days are numbered because they random drug test and that will be the last day for me lol. I enjoy cannabis not going to change that for any job when I'm on my time I make the rules lol.
