TED talks and religion

Define religion. In many of your other posts you equate religion with control.

Well, I deny that religion EQUATES with control. I think history is full of examples of people USING religion to control and I don't it is more or less prevalent in religion (as an organization or a social context) than any other ideology. The fault lies at man, not, I don't think, in the essence of religion itself.

But this anthropological perspective defines religion as a mode of relating to the world, no?

Funny, isn't it ... all this talk about 'control', but we're in the midst of those who want to control the debate about religion?

I mean, the same argument applies to governments, and generally any institution ... it's an easy critique, but it misses the point by a large margin.

Lol, I posted a video to discuss and you guys want to discuss my views?....so sweet.
I just asked you to define religion in this discussion because I find that it's hard to tell with you sometimes. I answered your question and followed by directed at the OP. I want to discuss the video, do you?

I do, I am running off right now...it is just my definition is not in question here...but the videos...to be clear... I don't see religion as equating control, but a huge part of it...as is govt obviously.

But tell me what you want to discuss! I want to discuss different definitions of religion in different contexts, you don't. I'm not going to keep guessing what you want to discuss, you have to give me a hint.

The main thing this one makes me contemplate is the time frames... Fawgettabout the short earthers... Or not...it appears that man has been around for tens of thousands of years, animals for hundreds of thousands, the earth for millions....but what corresponds to the short earth theology?....our modern religions?

I might as well reuse this thread instead of making a new one. With your permission wil?
It is a secular perspective of the decline of religion.
