Hot Button Topic: Islam and Peace

Brian, again you seem to be deliberately dense

I said:
You're just matching prejudice with prejudice. For someone who claims to know something of God, you are making some rather simplistic generalisations of others.

One reason why this thread exists as a "hot button topic" is because in our world today one can see Muslims at war with a large number of differing groups. If "Islam" stands for "surrender to God as Peace", the literal meaning of the word, then where is the "peace" of Muslims? It is a tremendously important question that shouldn't be trivialized as you attempt to do by advancing a spurious argument that Muslims are being stereotyped. Yes, they are and so all of us are too but that is no excuse for Muslim violence that shows every sign of being inspired by Islamic doctrines. Each of the traditional Abrahamic faiths contain "satanic verses", i.e., doctrines in their holy books that historically have been used as weapons to bring murder and mayhem to people of other faiths.

Satanic verses

Until Abrahamic religionists are shown that their holy books inspire violence in the name of God, there isn't going to be any peace in the world. That is why we must continue to espose ancient doctrines that do not fit today's social realities because to continue to glorify and idolize ancient men's religious understanding is to keep the world in fear of a fearful false god mascarading as the true God of All.

arielmessenger, how many Muslims have you actually met? did they try to kill you? No?

You are pandering to a nasty media stereotype - sure it, exists for real - but as an extreme that IMO affects a minority of people.

It would also be interesting to know the type of Jews and Christians you have contact with, as you seem to have a low opinion of other people in general.

For someone who claims to have knowledge of God, you sure seem to fall into trite generalisations and ignorant prejudices. IMO, that makes you as much a part of the problem you claim to tackle.

Ah yes. Damn good point, what.
Having such an aversion to something will actually bring you closer to it. So be careful. If it has such an effect on you, ask why?
All too often the hunter becomes the huntered, and the hero becomes the demon he means to kill. Look what happened to Bilbo Baggins.
