Hasn't quantum science given evidence for the fact that matter is an illusion? That at fundamental levels, everything is energy? No doubt, just like the early spokespersons for religion did when Copernicus gave his proof, classical physics does not want to jump on board that wagon yet.

It may all be energy, masquerading as matter here in 4d, but the baseball bat against the head still hurts, the bullet can end your time in the illusion....that is real, not illusory, and matter matters, you know this, otherwise try to reply without using any of the illusions you refer

Hm, that understanding is missing a few crucial component. Energy all by itself is not enough to describe the universe in terms of physics. Also, there are different forms of energy: The heat we feel when the sun shines on our faces is different from the sheer (almost) unstoppable motion (kinetic energy) of the earth moving around the sun, or the power source of a waterfall or the sea's tides.

In a mystical sense, it may all be energy. In the scientific sense, the picture, even the most simple, "standard model", contains lots of things besides energy.
