The Mind-Bending Truth About Trillions of Galaxies

Does anybody here follow Astronomy? (My husband used to get Astronomy magazine regularly)

5:44 minute video about how the Hubble telescope and more recent telescopes have revealed the evidence of the vastness of the universe and the incredible, untold number of galaxies that may be out there.

Last line of the video "Nature has surprised us beyond our wildest imagination"

The comment section, as always, has an array of takes on this, some in awe, some trying to make calculations, some making theological points, and some people who point out the importance of focusing on our own world.

What do you think?

It's so hard to grasp how huge and vast our universe is! But it saddens me to know that we have our limits of what we can see. The universe is expanding so fast that currently it is impossible for us to see the farthest stretches of the universe. So what we see with the Webb telescope is likely the farthest we'll ever see. But we'll be discovering so much in the future about our universe either way.

Amazing! Trillions of galaxies, each one holding trillions of stars, and so many stars holding planets.
We are being told that this universe will expand for all time, but it may expand and contract, a pulsing universe. Either way, I won't be around to find out which! :)

Closer to home and equally fascinating are the planets in our solar system. We have learned that Mars once had a magnetic field, atmosphere including oxygen and seas, a blue planet when our Earth was still a furnace.

The salt water found in a Saturn micro-moon, small planets orbiting far out in the Ort cloud and this solar system's influence as far out as a light year in all directions.

Yes, we are learning so much about the solar system and outer space but especially how tiny our world is and how special.
