We have created civilisations, but can't seem to keep them .. subsequent generations
end up "losing the plot".

Well, surely some day. More specialization, less longer the species survives.

There is no God to make plots. Humans do, in their ignorance. Time washes out all plots. Universe goes its own way.

That is not confined to middle-east religions. That goes for all political ideologies.
