Are you froggy?

Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
Luke 17:27
They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot
; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
Luke 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom
it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all.
Luke 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

When I survey the world that we live in today, I am reminded of Luke 17:26-30. I notice the many similarities between our time and Noah and Lots’ days. One thing that is glaringly obvious when we study the people in those days is their obliviousness. These people had no idea that they were in the path of imminent destruction. To put it in biblical terms; they had no idea that they were in the path of an angry God.

I am therefore reminded of an old experiment of the frog in the pot. There is an old experiment were one puts a frog in a pot of temperate water. The pot is placed on a stove and the heat is turned up slowly over a period of time. By the end of the experiment the frog will have been boiled to death without its knowledge From this experiment you were supposed to notice that the frog was not aware that it was in a life-ending situation. You see whenever the heat was incrementally turned up the frogs’ body would naturally adjust to its surroundings. Now when the experiment was repeated with the water boiling the frog would immediately try to jump out to safety.

This is what is happening in our nation today, and this is what happened in Noah and Lots’ day. The people ate, drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, and they builded. They did not notice the signs which pointed to their imminent destruction. Noah preached and warned them, but they refused to listen. (2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;) Lot also warned his people, but they thought he was mocking. (Genesis 19:14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.)

All of these people had made the same mistakes which we are repeating today. They were blinded by their assumptions. Their assumptions had created such a strong illusion in their minds, that Noah and Lot were unable to reach them. They had convinced themselves of their own rightness. The signs and the warnings were increasing, but they just brushed them off and adapted.

You see in this life that we live; there are always signs before imminent destruction falls. There are always indications which presage any major occurrence. The problem never lies with the abundance or the lack of abundance of signs and indicators. The problem always lies with mans inability to see and know what is occurring. This is why God states in Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

What many people in this day and age have failed to grasp is the difference between seeing and knowing. You can see something without knowing what it is. Let us for one moment continue to use the frog for an example. I can guarantee you that the frog was not blind. The frog most likely saw the stove, the pot, and the water. It saw the three signs of its demise without knowing it. You see the frog was not familiar with the conjunctional history of these three objects. If it had known the conjunctional history of these objects, he would have known that seeing these objects alone or in certain combinations did not spell trouble. For example if it would have seen the combinations of (pot+stove-water), (stove+water-pot), or (pot+water-stove). Now it had seen all three in a deadly combination (pot+stove+water) and it had no idea.

There is another reason besides ignorance why the frog was unable to perceive its dangerous situation. It is called familiarity. Familiarity tends to bring a false sense of assurance. When the frog was introduced into the water it came into contact with a substance which it was well acquainted with. This in turn allowed the frog to become more complacent. Now through this introduction, the small chance of the frog perceiving his situation has all but disappeared. After all water has always been one of the frogs’ closest friends. It could never harm it, or could it? The frog didn’t know that his good friend water, when manipulated in another environment was deadly to it.

We all see the warning signs, but we have become so ignorant and so convinced of our rightness that we have no knowledge of their meanings. We see the West coast drought which may be the worst in 500 years. We brush it off, adapt, and think big deal. After all we went through the Dust Bowl and we are still here. We see the four major hurricanes go through Florida in one season. We adapt, and rebuild, and think no big deal; we’ve seen hurricanes before. We see the increase of strange weather. We adapt. We blame it on El Nino and we continue in our ways. We see half of the honey bee population destroyed by mites. We adapt, no big deal. We see the country with record and astronomical deficits. No sweat once again. We adapt, and we keep going. Our leaders lead us into a war under false pretenses. No problem. We adapt, after all we had Vietnam and we’re still here. We see terror and fear running rampant. No sweat; just a bunch of fanatics who are jealous of our goodness, we say. We adapt. We see an earthquake which kills close to 300,000 people. We adapt. No big deal earthquakes happen all the time. We are America we’ve seen it all before. No sweat. We are the greatest country in the world.

Through this all the heat is steadily becoming hotter, but we don’t notice. We just adapt and continue till we all wind up dead like the frog.

Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.

Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Daniel 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

No one knows when the time is near, but the Father.

My own father once told me something that took me years to finally figure out. He said, "You spend so much time looking for tomorrow, that you miss today, and have no clue about yesterday".

We aren't frogs, and we do sense changes in "temperature". We may have been born in the dark, but it wasn't last night, and you are preaching to the "choir".

I have no idea why "Christians", feel the need to "PREACH" to Christians! It simply astounds me.

Expressing views, yes. Giving opinions, yes. Preaching...no, no NO!

I have to laugh at the fact that if most of us here weren't Christians, we'd be the biggest, deadliest enemies to the faith. We know the strengths and weaknesses.

It is God's way of showing His Divine nature (and trust).

Don't preach to me, just talk with me. I suspect that is the general concensus here on the Christian Board.

yes, iagree .and even so called christians can lose thefact of where we are in the stream of time. that is why jesus said KEEP ON THE WATCH he was talking to his followers ,there are some people who know what the bible says and try to apply it, but let the anxieties of life push them off course .for us to have Jehovahs favour,it is vital that both in our actions and in our desires of our heart ,we give evidence that we truly are no part of Babylon the great.(the world empire of false religion) there is no time for delay, alerting us that the end will come suddenly the bible says ,with a swift pitch will Babylon the great citybe hurled down, and she will be never found again....rev 18;21but there is more,in another aspect of the hour of Judgement, Jehovah God will call to account the Global political system, its rulers, and all who ignore his rightful rulership by means of his heavenly kingdom in the hands of Jesus christ...rev 13;1,2;rev 19; 19-21the prophetic vision recorded at daniel 2;20-45 depicts political rulership from the time of ancient Babylon to the present as a giant image made of gold, silver, copper, and iron, and molded clay.regarding our day,the prophecy fortold, The God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. and concerning what that kingdom will yet do during Jehovahs hour of judgement ,the bible declares it will crush and put an end to all these (manmade)kingdoms and it itself will stand for ever..Daniel 2;44...our not knowing the exact time gives us the oportunityto show that we serve God out of pure motives .those who know Jehovah realize that a last minute display of zeal will not inpress God,who sees what the heart is JEREMIAH 17;10 HEBREWS 4;13

I agree that we have ended up in moral decay because we have become familiar with it but I think you assumption that we are in the end time is a little bit of a stretch after all about 1500 years ago the greatest empire in the world fell and it people were thrown in the chaos but they brushed it off and adapted. And 700 years ago a disease killed the majority of Europe and people where saying the exact same thing as you but in the end they had to brush it off and adapt. Neither of those times did the end of the world come, and there were many more catastrophes it doesn't mean the world is ending.

yes you are so right the end of manmade rule did not come then, because it was not the time in line with the prochecies in the book of daniel .we are now on the threshhold of the time when God is going to put out of exsistence all manmade Goverments . the book of daniel is a book about world rulership , and the imense image in daniel chapter 2 is now right down to the feet of molded iron and clay. i find the book of daniel to be one of my favourite books because we can see the prophecies that have come true in the past and those ready to go into fullfillment .this image represents world powers throughout our history .the gold head being the babylonish world power ,the silver breast the medio -persian world power ,the copper was the greecian world power, and the legs of iron being the roman world power .now for the part that represents today . it is the feet of iron and clay which do not mix together we have many rulerships to day not mixing together, but look what puts them out the way ( a great stone )
As regards that image, its head was of good gold, its breasts and its arms were of silver, its belly and its thighs were of copper, its legs were of iron, its feet were partly of iron and partly of molded clay. You kept on looking until a stone was cut out not by hands, and it struck the image on its feet of iron and of molded clay and crushed them. At that time the iron, the molded clay, the copper, the silver and the gold were, all together, crushed and became like the chaff from the summer threshing floor, and the wind carried them away so that no trace at all was found of them. And as for the stone that struck the image, it became a large mountain and filled the whole earth.

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite; forasmuch as you beheld that out of the mountain a stone was cut not by hands, and [that] it crushed the iron, the copper, the molded clay, the silver and the gold. The grand God himself has made known to the king what is to occur after this. And the dream is reliable, and the interpretation of it is trustworthy...daniel 2;44 thrilling times i would say

Good day
If no one knows when the time is near then why this verse from Christ?
Matthew 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors.

Goodday
You are 100% correct. We are to keep watch. I am gald that their are some believers who are still watching. We should never stop watching. Many people do not understand that Babylon is an actual place. They think that it is just a world system. There is a system but it is led by this Babylon

Be careful that you do nont become like those mentioned in 2Peter.

2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2 Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation.
2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
