While building up the new navigational menus, I was looking for topic-specific pictures to go with each, and I thought upon religious buildings and monuments...

That had myself thinking - which are the world's greatest religious sites? Which places are the epitome of faith and worship? Where are the world's diverse expressions of belief most singularly characterised?

A general interest topic...

well for Islam its the Holy Ka'ba(The House Of Allah(God) located in Saudi Arabia's city of Mekkah where only Muslims are permitted to go, and Madinah as well which has Masjid-e-Nabvi(Holy Prophet's(SAW) messnger i.e the last prophet. I have been to these places and there are millions that go there evry year, no doubt once ure at these places, u can gain the ultimate peace inside your heart, that cannot be explained but rather felt.

Don't forget to include the greatest Greek Orthodox church which is located on the Greek Island of Tinos, I've been there :) It's a very famous church for it's miracles and the main church of the Orthodox faith, since we lost Constantinople. Anyone is allowed in. The Church is called Panagia Tis Tinou, means the Virgin Mary of Tinou.

it is a good topic:)

i will go with Notre Dame in France & the University & Cathedral in the state of Inidana.

I have not been to France. I have been to the campus in Indiana (home of the Fighting Irish) and it has its own zip code, thus making it a city to itself.

The dome has real gold in the paint.

Right click on the image, click "copy image location" (if using firefox,) or "properties" and then copying url from properties box (if using internet explorer,) then pasting the image url between [noparse]

Here's your avatar as an example:
this coding:

Two places that speak to my soul are the Shenandoah mountains of Virginia and the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Grand Canyon in Arizona is a close third. In the top ten would have to include the Painted Desert and Monument Valley of Arizona/New Mexico, and the Moab region of Utah. Truly spiritual places, all.

The ground underneath my two feet.

It's a pilgrimage I can afford to take.
