Q: What is the Christian hope?

A: The Christian hope is to live with confidence in newness and fullness of life, and to await the coming of Christ in glory, and the completion of God's purpose for the world.

Q: What do we mean by the coming of Christ in glory?

A: By the coming of Christ in glory, we mean that Christ will come, not in weakness but in power, and will make all things new.

Q: What do we mean by heaven and hell?

A: By heaven, we mean eternal life in our enjoyment of God; by hell, we mean eternal death in our rejection of God.

Q: Why do we pray for the dead?

A: We pray for them, because we still hold them in our love, and because we trust that in God's presence those who have chosen to serve him will grow in his love, until they see him as he is.

Q: What do we mean by the last judgment?

A: We believe that Christ will come in glory and judge the living and the dead.

Q: What do we mean by the resurrection of the body?

A: We mean that God will raise us from death in the fullness of our being, that we may live with Christ in the communion of the saints.

Q: What is the communion of saints?

A: The communion of saints is the whole family of God, the living and the dead, those whom we love and those whom we hurt, bound together in Christ by sacrament, prayer, and praise.

Q: What do we mean by everlasting life?

A: By everlasting life, we mean a new existence, in which we are united with all the people of God, in the joy of fully knowing and loving God and each other.

Q: What, then, is our assurance as Christians?

A: Our assurance as Christians is that nothing, not even death, shall separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Anglican Catechism

LOL! You're right, that is long. The funny thing is, it is only the shorter version of the Westminster Catechism.

Anglican Catechism

mmmm...Beautiful, Thank you.

Is this a catechism you accept?

The Anglican one is longer too, this is just a part, but I don't think it's as long as the Westminister one.

Yes, I believe that catechism, as well as some others. That is the shorter one. There's another, the longer castachism.

I tried to put a image up. Sorry, it does work. You can see it here though.
Let me tell you what I was taught about catching someone's attention. You got 10 seconds or less to get their attention, or else the rest of your expression of thought is lost.

Your link lost me in about three...

Preacher you are not. Scholar you might be...

"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Matthew 15:9

You know, it is very RUDE to talk about your neighbors in slighting remarks...and I've about had enough too.
I never once in my entire time here at CR, condemned your particular way of belief. You on the other hand seem to think condemning others is a God ordained thing. So you add insult to injury...this is Christian?...

Boy o' boy are you going to be surprised when you see the likes of me standing inside the pearly gates...first words out of your mouth will be "Catholics had it right too?" :D

Trust me, I know what you mean. I think my attention span is shorter than most. But, when the subject is about God or something pertaning to Him, like the Bible, I try to pay attention. You should read the link.

I did read the link Silas...that is how I came to my conclusion. Facts are fun, but Jesus isn't about facts. He is about truth...big difference.

True. But, what about the link wasnt true?

: What is the Christian hope?

that we shall see Christ as He is, and be eternally like Him.

It is written:

For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.

tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,

Q: What do we mean by the coming of Christ in glory?

It is written

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

Q: What do we mean by heaven and hell?

Is Heaven for Real? What is it like?

HellTruth.com -- The Bible Truth About Hellfire

Q: Why do we pray for the dead?

This is the one I disagree with.

Hebrews 9:27 says so much: "And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment." too late to pray for them when they are dead.

if a person dies in Christ, he goes to heaven to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:1-9, especially verse 8); If anything that person is praying for you.

if a person dies in their sin, he goes to hell, where eventually everyone in hell will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14-15).

What does the Bible say about praying to / speaking to the dead?

Finally.. I can always look at what Jesus did.

Luke9:59 Then He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." 60 Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God."

I like posts like these.. Not only in comparing my faith with others but having to really think about what I believe. thanks luna :)

Q

All I did was post a scripture..

2 Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

Q I have never doubted your salvation. My problem is not with you being a catholic my problem is with the religion of catholism. I know you love Jesus I know you know you are saved but I do not agree with a lot of the doctrines practiced in the catholic church Im not judging you I am judging those doctrines. I AM allowed to do that.

And yes you have condemned my beliefs... the hell issue was one of them.

I don't agree with alot of catholic doctrine either. I don't recall condemning your issues on hell, only disagreeing with them...;)

My bad, I should not have addressed my post in the first person. It wasn't directed at you, concerning any post I or you might have made.

However, your attempting to manipulate my conscience (lol), not going to work. Wife tries the same thing from time to time...

I just smile at the irony.

According to certain Christian doctrines, the woman should remain submissive...yes? Obviously neither you, nor I adhere to that doctrine...

However, I'm not used to arrogance coming from a God fearing Christian woman...nor am I used to being called on the carpet by the same as it were, nor being "dismissed", in light of a computer game.

Good thing I'm not your husband would probably be more accurate...
