And yet we have no way of knowing who is a Christian and who isn't. Why go to such great lengths to argue about whether Jesus is God or not, when you cannot help anyone by doing so?
Even if we think someone (such as Naaman the Syrian) is an idolater:I Corinthians 8:1-3 Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that "all of us possess knowledge." "Knowledge" puffs up, but love builds up. If any one imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if one loves God, one is known by him.
Or suppose that we ourselves think that we are in the light and right:I John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [*]
If we think we are chosen :Luke 17:33-35 Whoever seeks to gain his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. There will be two women grinding together; one will be taken and the other left."
and if we think we are God's firstfruits:Matthew 13: 30 Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'" ... 37-38 He answered, "He who sows the good seed is the Son of man; the field is the world, and the good seed means the sons of the kingdom; the weeds are the sons of the evil one,
Finally:Matthew 24:23 Then if any one says to you, `Lo, here is the Christ!' or `There he is!' do not believe it.
These are hard things, and what I'm suggesting is that you can by no means find security in joining a certain rag or group. Its not a membership in a certain sheepfold or a matter of having the right contacts.
Jesus was sent by God as the bible correctly tells us JOHN 3;16
John 17:3, RS: "[Jesus prayed to his Father:] This is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God ["who alone art truly God," NE], and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent." (Notice that Jesus referred not to himself but to his Father in heaven as "the only true God.")
accurate knowledge from the bible is the best knowledge . it teaches us the truth
John 20:17, RS: "Jesus said to her [Mary Magdalene], ‘Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’" (So to the resurrected Jesus, the Father was God, just as the Father was God to Mary Magdalene. Interestingly, not once in Scripture do we find the Father addressing the Son as "my God.")
