This is a short video series that I was going to send Thomas, but he has some darn strict privacy settings so I'll just share it with the whole class.

These guys, Extra Credits, are gaming nerds commenting on gaming community/production but have turned amateurs historians. The point of sharing this wasn't for people to comment on the substance, even though you are free to, but share the perspective of the 20 to 30something who is interested in history.

Also, notice the level on the comment section compared to other YouTube comments on religion.

Yes, thanks, ACOT.

I'll have a look when time allows ... and sort my settings.

Hmm ... interesting ... not sure where they got their history from, though ... A case of style over substance?

They don't post there sources so it could be anywhere, and I don't think anyone of them have an academic background so I'm not surprised if things don't match up. But I've watched them a lot and they are more interested in having a genuine understanding of the subject rather than getting views.

Well I've relistened, and I honestly can't recall what my earlier objection was.

Seems to me reasonable. A couple of quibbles, but hardly worth making a fuss over. Given that it's an overview from an historical rather than theological POV I thought it was good. I even watched the 'catch up' episode when the presenter was offering his opinions on Constantine ... very fair.

Have to say, assuming he's coming from a non-theological, non-religious standpoint, he's done way better than some, not giving way to post-modernist revisions of history, atheist bias and so forth ...

Chalcedon and the subsequent schisms was an heroic attempt to cover something that even theologians sometimes get in a knot about ...

ACOT — if there's any issue raised you'd like to discuss?

No I'm good! I was just intrigued by what objections you could have, but I'm just as glad that you didn't find any noteworthy ones.
I just thought of this thread by chance this morning and I haven't seen the video since I posted, I'll do that now knowing it has some scholarly backing!
If you feel like making some fuss over the small things, please do, I'm all ears!

It feels.schoolhouse rockish... And obviously anytime you condense a few hundred years or a college textbook or three into a few minutes of animation, you are gonna gloss over some nuance that tends to drive the studious and analytical crazy...
