Your Daily Rant

Hard to believe 3 months has passed and my in-laws will be going home in a few days. It's been a blast having them and I shall miss them when they're gone, but I fear if they stayed much longer, there would be a death in the family!

It's my sis-in-law mainly. Don't get me wrong. She's truly a dear woman, but she's also a one woman wrecking crew! For everything she picks up there's a better than even chance she'll either misplace it, break it or otherwise render it useless. After which she'll likely disavow any knowledge of it's existence.

She does have her good point though. She got all that nasty black stuff off the bottom of all are pots and pans. You know, Teflon. Then there's meal preparation. Nothing that lady can't cook. In 2 damn gallons of canola oil!!

Then there's the mom-in-law. 82 years old and as spry as they come. Picky eater though. She won't eat anything not also found in her homeland. Tropical island fare ain't that easy to come by on the east coast in winter dear! Then again, with her food isn't so much sustenance as it is a fashion statement. Practically have to vacuum her after every meal. Then there's her bodily emissions. Without getting too graphic here, let's just say she probably has enough gas to get back to Fiji on her own!

It's been great having them though!!!:D

:kitty:s over a certain age require a special formula :kitty: food. Said formula isn't sold in stores. :kitty:s that go on a hunger strike suffer rather negative side effects. Get on the ball before I go ballistic.

A while back our Jackie seemed to be having trouble urinating so we took him to the vet who did a catheterization without our permission, $800!!! and tried to convince us he needed a special high priced formula cat food that "coincidently" only they sold. Yeah right!

I took him home and after a day or 2 with little change, I started feeding him baked chicken supplemented with clam juice, full of essential taurine and switched his kibble over to Purina Complete, which is also recommended for senior cats and available at any grocery. He's been doing fine ever since.
 
Two problems that I can see here:

1) The stuff that I get for Tovarish isn't that expensive, but one has to have a way to pay for it (identity theft sucks better than the best vacuum cleaner)

2) I don't bring shellfish into my apartment unless it is in tinned :kitty: food because I'm highly allergic to shellfish and the woman that "helps" me once a month washes everything together, then "tosses" them willy-nilly. This doesn't just pertain to dishes...

I am not your personal project to turn into what you consider "beautiful". I'm neither male nor female, and I don't want to be dictated to about what a woman should look like. Leave me the hell alone if you have problems with your personal identity.

Better yet, drop dead and take everyone who backs up your methodology with you.

Just because you can cut a particular hair-type doesn't mean that it'll work on my hair-type. Also, I'm the customer, not the bipedal dingo with me who expects you to give me a shave and "proper" haircut for a "beautiful" woman. If I tell you to shave both the neck and the scalp for her "experiment", you listen to me. I look ridiculous, plus I can't fooking see through the "modified" mullet style you gave me. I was nearly hit by another car while crossing the street because I couldn't see it!

(An aside: furred purrson plural earned their treats today. I wish that I could've stayed home instead of going to my Tuesday appointment or my Tuesday afternoon class.)

Big Brother,

I can't go with you to Madison on any Monday that I'm free to "advocate" for one of your pet causes.

Why?

The only Mondays that I'm free are because my diabetes clinic is closed due to a federal holiday or a snow day. The holiday would also close any/all government buildings and the snow day would make traveling too dangerous. You're a grown man already; stop asking me to hold your hand and "man up".

Just because the alleged shooter has a Latino name doesn't mean that he's a "dreamer". Hell, "dreamers" do their d@mnedest to fly under the radar so they don't get sent back to a country that they don't remember and/or speak the language. The DACA "kids" that are found out about are usually applying for a college scholarship or something similar.

The alleged shooter has a long history of being a troublemaker (this is from a student that knew him since childhood!)

So there's this online photo contest. Nothing big, just a peoples choice challenge to make an animated GIF using original photos. Figured I'd be a shoo-in so I entered.

Now, not really expecting him to, I offhandedly suggest to a mate who's not a professional photog, that he should enter as well. Long story short, not only does he enter, the blighter actually wins! To make matters worse, his entry gets 6 times more votes than mine! Love ya mate, but damn, beat my Johnson in the dirt! -:D

Sometimes it aint the picture but the network.... I know a guy who makes SF best comedy magician each year...not because he is the best...but because he has thousands of followers... It is like thinking Budwieser is the best beer because it sells the most....or Bob Dylan was a great singer.

Ah, Aussie ... as you and I know, as professionals in theses arenas, the great public at large has absolutely no bloody taste at all!

I once hosted a design event featuring an up-and-coming US designer famous for his zeitgeist magazines.

Presenting his work in a room of over 200 typographers, slide by slide of magazine spreads, it became apparent to all that he couldn't tell the difference between a good layout and a bad one! When he praised the wonderful fonts he'd found on the Mac, all named after cities, you could feel the ripple run through the room ...

Historically some of our worst snows come in march here in the midatlantic...we've been known to get a foot or more of snow around here this time of year... We only had one week of single digits all winter....one cold week...one warm winter...one snow fall that will be gone in two days...roads are clear..
 
Snows have gone here ... the apple blossoms are out ... this time last year I was in Kyoto ...
