In my head. HELP! IM TRAPPED IN HERE!
Ok, *sigh* I just quit smoking. Cool huh? Well, the FDA doesn't think so... :(
Have you heard about this? The FDA is all up in arms now against e-cigs, the device that got me off of regular cigarettes.

Here is e-cig 101 -->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_cigarettehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Cigarette

And the press is strolling merrily behind the FDA, who are in turn strolling behind the federal government, who are strolling behind big tobacco and the pharmaceutical companies, pecking at the dollar bills thrown in their wake...

You get my point. An illustration of said point:

Another, FDA style. A stock email sent to all those who ask them about e-cigs or their opposition to them. Taken from an e-cig forum:

email I got from the FDA - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

And here is an article about e-cig facts and myths, a nice and informative comeback to many of the FDA's claims and tests.

I just want as many people to know about this foolishness as possible. Research it to your hearts content if what I present isn't enough for you, but I believe this is a pretty fair assessment. If a bit bitter on my part...

So, let me know what you think about it, if you would.

There is no good to be found in a cigarette of any kind, but if one must smoke, I have advised to grow your own tobacco so as to ensure that you know what goes into your final product as you are in control.
The farmer sprays a multitude of toxic sprays which, due to the sticky nature of tobacco all get bound up in the resins and stay put for your future enjoyment, then the maker will use another multitude of toxins to process it into its final form.
Yummy:p
I once smoked for some time, but have quit many years ago.
Just like that.
It is all in your head so you don't need a security cig which gives you just nicotine, you just need to exercise your will....ahh... most people's will is flabby couch potato unable to get off the bed....well maybe the FDA will allow the electronic titty...er--cig, to stay for willpower impaired folk.

Lol, it's not a willpower thing. I didn't want to quit smoking. I think quitting is for losers, lol. Just kiddin. I enjoy smoking, like the act thereof, but I don't enjoy being addicted. The e-cig lets me enjoy the act of smoking, but I can make my own e-liquid with no nicotine and know exactly what is in it. So I can smoke anywhere without anyone being able to bitch, because there's no second hand smoke, I don't get glared at for being a smoker because of the "Ooo shiny!" factor, lol, and I don't have to pay more in taxes than I pay for the actual product like I did with cigs. In fact, I don't have to pay any taxes. Yet...

I like cigs. Love em. I was just too broke and too tired of the bitching about what I was doing to my body to be arsed with smoking anymore.

Plus... these are hella cheaper. That's always gewd, lol. :D

I don't really care about the medical angle. It's a plus, but, I mean, statistics say that I'm bound to die of cancer one day anyhow. At least with cigarettes I'm able to choose my variety, lol. And if "it's my body" works with abortion, why not cigarettes? Just a thought, lol. Sry bout that one...

Hi Mort, congrats on quitting !!!!

I know you are partial just kidding around, but it seems like you might be partially serious too.

The stats do not say that you are bound to die of cancer one day. And even those who do die of cancer for other causes generally live much longer than if they die from smoking. Also, end of life situations are very unpleasant for smokers, leukemia, throat cancer, others.

So you are wise to quit. I wish you the best. :)

Lol, I was mostly kidding. Just a defense mechanism from being around the rabid anti-smokers too long, lol. Thanks Avi!

I'm vaping blueberries right now. MMMMmmmm.... I lika blueberries...

You are very funny Mort !!:)

I have had underage kids approach me at gas stations and other places to buy cigs for them. I always use those times as "teaching opporunities" to tell the kids about cancer, etc. So I am one of those "rabid anti-smokers" !!

Don't you think if G-d wanted us to smoke he/she would have given us stainless steel lungs ?? :)

Oh. I thought you were talking about virtual cigarettes.

Wouldn't it be nice if some day in the future you could stick a punch of electrodes somewhere up your nose (yeah, talk about picking your nose:D) and on your tongue to create the feeling that you get from smoking. Maybe at the same time you could watch a video clip of a guy smoking so that you could experience smoking through the life of another person (much like watching pornography and getting stimulated).

I seriously hope so. The whole I'm gonna die of something anyway is a little different when you've seen folks die of emphysema and lack of oxygen. My kids have only had one grandparent, my mom, the only non-smoker of the three... All the rest were gone well before their time all do to a habit, and I heard from all of them...I like smoking...your gonna die from something anyway. They all quit eventually, but way to late. For my Dad, Mother-in-law and Father-in-law...RIP I hope they gave their lives so the next few generations won't ever start smoking...
