IMO we all would like Interfaith Org to have a bit of a different quality from other faith forums around. The discussions should be polite -- and aggressive proselytizing and attacks against other faiths drag down the level of the entire website. It’s a problem for staff to know what to do. Last time an acrimonious thread was closed, it caused a valuable member @Miken to leave. Banning someone can be hard and heartbreaking. It's seldom enjoyable. The staff around here obviously don’t want to end up looking like policemen or class prefects. The reason for this thread is to encourage members to report posts they find objectionable. It makes it easier for staff to take action. Please do not be afraid to use that report button. The site is for the members. But it’s difficult unless members have their say. @wil provided a sort of mission statement that is included in the ‘about’ section of the homepage that reads: “Our group seeks to fulfil a mission of interfaith dialogue and exploration of others beliefs while being a place to discuss the intricacies of our own belief in a safe format.” https://www.interfaith.org/about/ This has now been attached at the top of the Code of Conduct thread: https://www.interfaith.org/community/threads/7047/ The Code of Conduct isn’t fixed in stone. It can be changed. Members are strongly encouraged to have their say about the running of IO. Don’t be afraid of the report button, or to speak out here. It is the welfare of the site that matters most, imo. We 'staff members' including admin are not exempt from being reported if our conduct does not appeal to the members of Interfaith Org – because the members ARE the website. Please vocalize! Just felt this needed saying?
