For many of us out there we do believe that the mind is limited to only the human body. However is it possible for a soul or a spirit to make a physical appearance on earth? The answer for me is yes. However it takes a special kind of human and a special kind of Ghost to make the appearance possible by some sort of connection.

Yes. I see soul, ghost, spirit, angel is all the same basic thing. Be careful with this.:)

    Dear PM

Yes Ghosts can be described as people that have lived on earth but yet not made it to the light, so they kind of get stuck in the gap of different dimensions.

Ghosts are a very low vibration and it is these low vibrations that are attracted to things like Ouji boards because they hope that people doing these things have the experience to do what is commonly known as 'spirit rescue'.

Within the world wide Christian Spiritualist religion mediums are trained over many years to enable them to help lost souls like ghosts to return home to the light of GOD.

Angels are very different indeed they are a much higher vibration and practically pure light of GOD, I discovered yesterday in the NIV Bible in the Chapter of Matthew the bible states that Jesus was lower then the angels. So a very interesting perspective to ponder upon. The chapter also refers to angels a bit more so well worth a read. I have provided a link on the other thread about the Constituation of Christ if you wish to read more.

It also states that Jesus told the people not to pray in churches but in secret alone with GOD, this is probably one the most contraversial thing I have read in this new translation of original texts, but there are many other gems which help to see things with totally new eyes.

Onwards and upwards dear PM, seek and you shall find.

    Love beyond measure

    Kim xx

    Namaste all,

within the traditional exegis of Buddhism, there are ghosts and all sorts of other things which could be viewed in this manner, or as angels or demons or what have you... mostly depending on your paradigm, i would suspect.

in the traditional view of Buddhist rebirth, a being can take a negative rebirth as a Preta being, or, Hungry Ghost.

I've experienced a dark non physical being before. This might get a little personal but I will tell my story anyway. I was in the town centre to meet up with my girlfriend (now ex) and got there a little early. After a while I had the need for the toilet so I went to the closest department shop which was Debenhams and went to the cafe toilet, after doing my duty I had started washing my hands and that's when I seen a dark shadow that appeared on the side of me in the image of a human, almost instinctively I ran out of the toilet without drying my hands. I felt like I was wrong for being in there and felt guilt, didn't know why but it never stoped me from returning the following time.

Had other experiences of good forces, one I have mentioned twice before on this forum of the weeping of an icon of the Virgin Mary we have, that was witnessed by my whole family and that phenomenon occurs a lot in Italy, Spain, Greece and Cyprus, we bought the Icon back from a Greek Island it was simply made out of MDF made of man made wood with a stuck image of paper, the first time we cleaned the window seal that was drenched in some oil maybe olive oil and then it happened a second time, pure miracle coming from the virgins eyes, I still remember how I felt from when it first happened. Really overwhelming. I was about 14 at the time.

Today something unusual happened to me, as I was driving to tesco's with my brother the car park had limited parking and I was late to finish my jobs back at the shop and was also very hungry and started to panic a little, about that time I had seen a seagull fly past the car on it's side and went left it was trying to attract my attension iot was obvious from it's elaborate movement on it's side up close to the car, for some reason I knew instantly I had to go left at the end of the road, only to discover there was an empty space right next to one of the entrances of the supermarket. Coincidence, nah, I knew it was a sign before I found the space, that's why I followed. However I was originally planning on going right as it was the sensible option.

I believe in that, PostMaster. I believe that there are different realms and that it takes a special kind of person to visit and be visited by different realms. I've only experienced two 'ghosts'. My brother who was recently deceased at the time, and my uncle who had long been deceased. I am aware at each time I was open to the experience. It could have been a figure of my imagination, but I also believe that the mind is as powerful as you allow it to explore; making those appearances from my loved ones very real to me. I'm not necessarily 'visited' by ghosts, but I believe I have a gift of spiritual discernment that becomes very powerful when I give enough of myself to it at any given time.

I do think though that if there is a place that has got a reputation for hauntings, some people will see what they expect to see (or what they are terrified of seeing!)

Opposite to this I also think that ghosts appear when we are not expecting them, and maybe we at the time do not even realise there has been a ghost there! As a child I used to go to work with my parents, and had my own room to sleep and play in (they had thier own business). During the night time a woman would come and sit with me and keep me company, however it turned out that there was never anybody there who fitted the description of a deeply tanned old woman with very white hair.

I've had a few other odd experiences in the passt too which does make me believe in ghosts.

From a Biblical stand point, there is no such things as ghost. In the movies, ghost are portrayed as the spirit of a person when he/she has died. In reality; from the Bible's prospective, when a person dies their spirt and soul goes back to God to be judged. As the scripture says - "It is appointed once for a man to die, then comes judgment."

That said however, there are things which the Bible speaks of, that I believe people do see, and mistake it for such things as: Ghost, UFO, ect. The Bible mentions that there are invisible beings called demons. These spirits are the spirits of beings called "Nephilim;" which are hybrid creatures created by angels and human chicks. When the Nephilim (Giants, or Earth born) died out, their eternal spirt became what is known as Demons. And, they exist as part of Satan's armies. They are very different from angels, in that they are restricted to the earth, and they possess people. Also, they play apart of satan's deception in that they fool people through religion, apparing as "gods" or UFOs.

    Later,

God's inspiration was experienced differently within the stories of the Bible. However, it is one whole book. If there were no such things as ghosts, then there would be no such thing as spiritual discernment. Perhaps the spirit and soul does go back to God to be judged? Doesn't mean that there is not a spiritual realm in which those of us who are more "spiritually inclined" are not aware of. Some people have spiritual discernment, some people don't. Reading the Bible and being a soldier for Jesus does not give you spiritual discernment. You don't even have to believe in God to have it. Some people can see ghosts but not hear them. Some people can hear ghosts but not see them. I can't see or hear ghosts. I feel them. Ghosts, Geists, Spirits, Energy, etc. - all the same.

Both my mom and my dad have "experienced" ghosts...Each time, the spirit of the departed either revealed some secret, or served as an "omen" of sorts.

Having said that, I don't believe in hauntings. I believe a spirit can give a message, but I don't believe ghosts dwell in this realm for extended periods of time...otherwise, wouldn't the entire earth simply be crawling with the ghosts of those who don't want to depart?

I believe in my own opinion that maybe the word being used is not quite correct.

I really believe that most of the time, when people claim to have seen a ghost, it was simply their mind working overtime. Can this account for everything though? Perhaps not. I wonder though, if these are the ghosts of people, or if they are spirits(good and bad) taking on the form of people.

Just reminded of some things Thomas wrote on another thread, http://www.comparative-religion.com/forum/possession-personal-demons-6700.html

You say this is the traditional view, is it a view you share? I'm curious.

I've been waiting to see if anything happens with my brother. It seems to me that there's a line between a phenomenon manifesting as a function of one's inner dialog, and whatever may occur naturally of itself. What I mean is that if one wants to believe, the inner dialog manifests in such a way that an artificial subject-object relationship between aspects of one's inner "voices" occurs where one part, or "voice" is compartmentalized, or insulated from the objective self so that it can become the "other." I'm avoiding this because I'm thinking that if such a thing as a "ghost", or communication from the "other side" actually exists it should be able to manifest itself regardless of one's investment in belief. Does that make any sense?

    Hi Chris

May I ask a personal question. If Mark did communicate with you, do you think you would accept it as from Mark or would you think it is from your desire to be with your brother again?

Would it depend on what message you heard or saw?

    Salaam

Well, that's kinda what I'm trying to explain, Sally. I'm trying to avoid wanting it because that will ruin my objectivity. I'm trying to stay in a neutral, yet open state. I'm not sure that's possible, though. I think, though, that if Mark can communicate he will. We are super close, and that's what I would do if the situation were reversed. I'm not sure what form that may take, so I don't want to close up to some possible means for that communication by deciding that it must be a certain way that I might be predisposed toward because of the prevalent cultural mythology of such things. It's hard to explain.

I hope Mark can communicate with you Chris, truly I do, if ever there was a man that would have something to say to you after passing it would be Mark and I am sure it would give you peace of mind to know that he is at peace.

I also hope you can avoid thinking about it, as time passes. I would hate you to be disappointed if he is unable to communicate.

My belief is that there are so many things in this life we do not understand. We talk of ghosts/spirits communicating with us and often see that as a white hazy image speaking to us. Perhaps our loved ones can communicate in more subtle ways. Maybe one day you will turn left instead of right and avoid an accident, or decide to do something out of character which has a good result. Perhaps that is how Mark will communicate with you, without you ever being aware of it?

    Salaam
    Sally

I think this all makes perfect sense, Chris, and I wonder ... perhaps Mark might choose the method of a vivid dream to communicate with you? A friend of mine from work used to communicate in this way with her mother. She is quite open to the possibility, has always had an interest in these sorts of things, and defines herself as a Christian ... yet with a strong interest in Gnostic, even `New Age' teachings. (Her mother was the one initiating the dreams, btw, and it was quite easy for her to tell that this was not just a case of wishful thinking, or wish fulfilment at the subconscious level ... sometimes, lucid dreams do occur, in which we know - that something "beyond us" is at work.)

I think it is of prime importance to be open to the possibility. If we look for it too hard, or expect it come via a specific form, we may close ourselves to what is really there. As it is, I believe our friends and relatives MAY sometimes choose to communicate with us via a number of ways. One is through dreams, and these, when they are meant to make it into our outer awareness, almost always do. If the message (or need to be aware of our loved ones) is important enough, several dreams may need to recur ...

Other methods may include communiation via a medium, or perhaps the relaying of something via a 3rd party.

And yes, I think we can influence the possibilities most strongly, either by our positive, or negative expectations ... or beliefs. But is this not the case with all else in life? Not that I can simply will my way into Nirvana, or believe strongly enough and precipitate (materialize) a horse!

But then, in fact, this is exactly what I believe, if the truth be told. I'm just not "there" yet ... ;) :p

Anyway, best of luck to you, Chris. If you hear nothing, then you probably know well enough - that all is well. Still, it's nice to get some reassurance, and I suspect there are forces at work to make sure that anything which needs to get through, will get through. :)

    Peace,

    ~Andrew

when my father died i was very devasted. of course you would expect that. I had a little other trauma as well going on at the time. I could have become a lost person but i thankfully didnt. I wanted my father so much to come and rescue me from my predicament. Of couse he could not. gradually I got my life back together and it was only then that I noticed the things in my life that resembled his work. his strength. Those things are very personal but please be assured that even though I know he has physically left, he could never leave me. He tried his entire life to give me and my sisters a good life and the best foundation to be good people. that is my legacy to my children. just be good citizens. that is all. love the grey
