bible prophecy

The Bible is filled with predictions or prophecies, its record as documented by history, is clear. Bible prophecy is always right.Imagine a weather forcaster who has a long record of being right.......everytime......... if he predicted rain would you carry an umbrella?

I think you'll find prophecy in general to be more contentious than that. :)

As for Bible prophecy - I think the JW's standalone in being obsessed with Bible prophecy, and to be honest, after a few failed attempts to predict the end of the world, they seem to have settled in claiming prophecies as fulfilled without any actual indicators of doing so.

For example, the triumphant return of Jesus in 1914 becomes an abstract "return to Heaven".

Which is kind of like the weather forecasting the weather than no one actually sees, which doesn't really inspire faith in the weatherman. :)

Well yes, if it was 10 billion years away when it was predicted, then it's only 9 billion, 999 million, 998 thousand years away now, which is closer than it's ever been. (I am assuming, only for the sake of argument, that it will ever happen.)

You really think that the laws of the universe are going to be suspended because the hairless apes have gotten into a jam on one little rockball?

or even that they stand alone in recognising fullfilled bible prophecy. because they did not lose their focus, and now great understanding is with them in these last days Daniel 12;4:)

Laws of the universe ........... who was it that put them into place ? As the book of JOB 38;4 says, Where did you happen to be when I founded the earth? Tell [me], if you do know understanding.
(Genesis 1:1) In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

(Nehemiah 9:6) “You are Jehovah alone; you yourself have made the heavens, [even] the heaven of the heavens, and all their army, the earth and all that is upon it, the seas and all that is in them; and you are preserving all of them alive; and the army of the heavens are bowing down to you.

(Psalm 104:5) He has founded the earth upon its established places; It will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever.

(Psalm 136:6) To the One laying out the earth above the waters: For his loving-kindness is to time indefinite;

(Proverbs 8:29) when he set for the sea his decree that the waters themselves should not pass beyond his order, when he decreed the foundations of the earth,

(Hebrews 1:10) And: “You at [the] beginning, O Lord, laid the foundations of the earth itself, and the heavens are [the] works of your hands.

The Bible centers attention on Jehovah as the fundamental Lawgiver of the universe.

I wouldn't put much faith in that time table.
Gods timetable is always bang on , according to his way of doing things.Jehovah has always had an appointed time for expressing his will and judgment.
True, God has overlooked the times of such ignorance, yet now he is telling mankind that they should all everywhere repent. Because he has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, (JESUS)and he has furnished a guarantee to all men in that he has resurrected him from the dead.”ACTS 17; 30-31

Distinguishing features of Bible prophecies ,are often specific and have been fullfilled down to the smallest of details, they usuasly involve matters of great importance and predict the opposite of what those living at the time of writing might have been expecting.

MANY persons have gone through high schools and colleges thinking that they know the story of Alexander the Great. But often such persons are entirely unaware of the most important fact concerning Alexander: His career of speedy conquest was foretold in Bible prophecy.

Funnily enough, my readings on the Book of Daniel have it written after the event. This is one subject Bob x used to love deconstructing. :)

Deuteronomy 18:21-22
You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?" If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken
presumptuously.

I know... just in case. In the JW scipture twisting, the obvious sometimes gets lost.

.[/quote Jesus certainly is ruling amidst his enemies .Jesus Christ now actually sits on Jehovah’s real throne, at Jehovah’s right hand, and from there in heaven he now reigns in the midst of his enemies and will reign for a thousand years after the war of Armageddon and the binding of Satan and his demons. (Heb. 1:1-4; 10:12, 13; Rev. 3:21, 7; 5:5) He is mightier than all previous kings of King David’s line.
Jesus Christ, who now rules amidst his enemies, the Gentile powers whose “appointed times” expired in 1914.
Jesus is reigning as the Messianic King amidst his enemies. He now reigns in the “city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem,” on the heavenly Mount Zion. (Heb. 12:22, 23) No longer is the kingdom of the royal line of David in an overturned condition; no longer is it trampled on by the Gentiles, for the location of his kingdom has been transferred from earthly Jerusalem to “heavenly Jerusalem.” (Ezek. 21:25-27; Luke 21:24) Never again will the Gentile world powers trample on that Davidic kingdom, for never will they be able to trample upon the “heavenly Jerusalem.” This situation has been true since the Gentile Times ended in 1914, at which time the heavenly kingdom was born.—Rev. 12:1-5. its all happening :)

many are in opposition to bible truth .
At the end of the Gentile Times around October 4/5 in 1914, Jesus Christ was in what Hebrews 12:22 calls the “city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem,” on the heavenly Mount Zion. There was the place for the glorified Jesus Christ to be installed as king, and that by the only one who could do so, the Most High God Jehovah. Daniel 7;13-14.

But many are in opposition to Jesus and his kingship. as we can see .
When Jesus was on earth, the temple of God stood in Jerusalem, and Jesus worshiped there. So Jerusalem could then be called “the city of the great King” Jehovah. (Matthew 5:34, 35) But certainly at the miraculous ripping of the inner temple curtain at the death of Jesus on Passover Day of 33 C.E., it ceased to be Jehovah’s royal city. The destruction of Jerusalem and its temple by the Gentile Romans in 70 C.E. confirmed that fact. Happily for the Jewish Christians then, and for all Christians since, there is another Jerusalem, a more exalted one, “heavenly Jerusalem.”—Hebrews 12:22. yes fundamental Kingdom truths .

This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.”—Matthew 24:14; Mark 13:10. its all happening in this time of the end. manmade goverments are on there way out .

The message of the Messianic kingdom does not mean “gospel” or “good news” to all people on earth. To those refusing God’s kingdom the message preached by Jehovah’s witnesses is not good news. yes many are in opposition to truth .

Do you have a text reference handy for that Mee?

(Daniel 11:3) “And a mighty king will certainly stand up and rule with extensive dominion and do according to his will.

(Daniel 8:8) And the male of the goats, for its part, put on great airs to an extreme; but as soon as it became mighty, the great horn was broken, and there proceeded to come up conspicuously four instead of it, toward the four winds of the heavens.

(Daniel 11:4) And when he will have stood up, his kingdom will be broken and be divided toward the four winds of the heavens, but not to his posterity and not according to his dominion with which he had ruled; because his kingdom will be uprooted, even for others than these.
