"Love": that beautiful language and emotion

Oh! My God, I am seeking your love
Oh! My God, dont deprive me of your love
My heart is a lost boat seeking your direction
I know you are everywhere, but I know that I am nowhere
How can I settle down if my heart is empty of your love
How can I rest if my soul is trembling down
How can I live if my life is from your presence is deprived of

My God, I am a lost servant, bestow on me your love
for I belive without your love, there is no life

Oh, my God, dewll on my heart
and let my life to be deeds coming from and seeking your love
Oh, my God, please bestow on me your love

Perhaps when we look to God we are looking in the same direction and only the colour of the filter through which we see the ultimate reality is different.

When the self has dissolved and the soul is re-united with the divine we may all be of the same spirit and know one another and understand all things incomprehensible to the human brain.

May we then remember one another and recall our strivings toward the divine!

peace and blessings to all,

Again, a nice post qj. We all belong to God , and to Him is the return. That is what is known by "the unity of the universe". There is no other truth, but God.

Amazing poetic lines from Rabia Al Adawiya in the love of God:

" I love You with two loves-a selfish love
And a Love that You are worthy of.
As for the selfish love, it is that I think of You,
To the exclusion of everything else.
And as for the Love that You are worthy of,
Ah! That I no longer see any creature, but I see only You!
There is no praise for me in either of these loves,
But the praise in both is for You."

"Your hope in my heart is the rarest treasure
Your Name on my tongue is the sweetest word
My choicest hours
Are the hours I spend with You --
dot_clear.gif

O God, I can't live in this world
Without remembering You--
How can I endure the next world
Without seeing Your face?

I am a stranger in Your country
And lonely among Your worshippers:
This is the substance of my complaint."

Love for Allah
If my love is attached to Thee
Then from sin I will be free

Each time my heart will beat
Your name will resound with heat

With your name shivers my each limb
They seek to be released from whim

Allah, Allah, is my hearts speech
Your Mercy is what I beseech

The Most Merciful keep me content
With all that You have sent

Keep in my heart Your remembrance
And in Your deen and love allow me to advance

Help me in my quest
Permit me to pass the ultimate test

Save me from the clutches of Satan
Give me death upon Imaan.

Love is an emotion that should be displayed in our speech and deeds. How? just fill your heart with God's love. How? by following the prophet Muhammed peace be upon him's teachings. God says:

[3:31] Proclaim: "If you love GOD, you should follow me." GOD will then love you, and forgive your sins. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Also, the prophet Muhamed peace be upon him said: ""One of you does not believe until his desire follows what I have come with".

Oh, my God, we are seeking your love. Dont deprive us, please...

Isn't it said in the Qur'an that there is no compulsion in religion? I feel God wants us to come to him freely, not being forced but out of love, returning his love. If you love someone, don't you wish that love to be returned. That is only natural.

Therefore we should be wary of those who seek to force others to believe this or that to score points or prove that their way is better. I suspect such a thing ultimately comes of insecurity in their own beliefs sowing the wrong sort of seed in their heart.

The role of a good person is to help their neighbour be a better person whatever way they follow, be they Christian, Muslim or Atheist. I always come back to this simple statement: "ordinary goodness is the one true religion"; if our discipline fails to live up to this it is of little value and we have probably misunderstood it.

Yeah, brother, you are absolutely right. God also said: "54. O ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will God produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him"

The vesre clearly shows that it is love that should motivate us to get nearer to God. Those who reject/ turn away from faith are losers of God's love, and what a painful loss!

God addressed his prophet Muhammed peace be upon him in the Quran: "3. Perhaps you are aggrieving yourself that they will not be faithful 4. If We willed, We would descend upon them from the sky a sign, so persist would their necks unto it in acquiescence. (26)" God wants us to worship Him freely to come to Him willingly, and with love, and what is the use of forced/obliged worship?

You are true, qj. The prophet Muhammed peace be upon him said :
"All the creatures are the children of God and the most loved among you to God is he who treats His creatures well."

peace and mercy be upon you

My heart is singing a love song
My heart is looking for a lasting port
My heart knows that You are My first and My last love
My heart has experienced how much getting far from the Beloved is painful
My heart has tasted the bliss of being with the Lover
My tears draw their ways in my face when I feel I am losing You
My heart is a broken one far from You
I am holding out my hand to You, My God.
Please, dont let me be failing
I know that Your mercy transcends everything
and I know that You NEVER let down those who really come willingly to You
My God, I am submitting with my all to You
Show me the way, My beloved
and let me be stick with it forever, My lord

I read that heart has only one direction. When it is directed towards the love of this world life, it is then deprived from enjoying the love of the world after. Hence, if it is directed to love materialistic things, then it is deprived from enjoying the spiritual feelings. One, then, deprives himself/herself from being with the divine. Simply, the key towards happiness is educating one's heart. Please, God, help us to reach you and keep in continuous connection with you.

I find the following article very illimunating

Sincerity

Sincerity is the freeing of one's intentions from all impurities in order to come nearer to Allah. It is to ensure that the intention obedience to Allah are exclusively for His pleasure. It is the perpetual contemplation of the Creator, to the extent that one forgets the creation.

Sincerity is a condition for Allah's acceptance of good deeds performed in accordance with the sunnah of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Allah has commanded this in the Qur'an:
"And they have been commanded to worship only Allah, being sincere towards Him in their deen and true. (98:5)"

Abu Umama has related that a man once came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, "What of a man who joined us in the fighting, his intention being for fame and booty?" The Prophet said, "He recieves nothing." The man repeated the question three times and each time the Prophet said, "He receives nothing". Then he said, "Allah only accepts actions that are intended purely for His pleasure."

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri related that the Prophet (saw) said in his khutba during the farewell pilgrimage, "Alla will bless whoever hears these words and whoever understands them, for it may be that those who pass on this knowledge are not those who will understand it the best. There are three things concerning which the heart of a believer should feel no enmity or malice: devoting one's actions to Allah, giving counsel to the Imams of the Muslims, and being loyal to the majority."

What is meant here is that these three things strengthen the heart, and whoever distinguishes himself in them will have a heart purified from all manner of deceit, corruption and evil.

A servant can only free himself from shaytan through sincere devotion, for Allah tells us in the Quran that Iblis said to Him:
"Except those of Your servants who are sincere. (38:83)"

It has been related that a rigtheous man used to say, "O self, be devout and you will be pure." When any wordly fortune, in which the self finds comfort and towards which the heart inclines, intrudes upon our worship, then it impairs the purity of our efforts and ruins our sincerity. Man is preoccupied with his good fortune and immersed in his desires and appetites; rarely are his actions or acts of worship free of temporary objectives and desires of this kind. For this reason it has been said that whoever secures a single moment of pure devotion to Allah in his life will survive, for devotion is rare and precious, and cleansing the heart of its impurities is an exacting undertaking.

In fact, devotion is the purifying of the heart from all impurities, whether few or many, so that the intention of drawing nearer to Allah is freed from all other motives, except that of seeking His pleasure. This can only come from a lover of Allah, who is so absorbed in contemplation of the next world that there remains in his heart no place for the love of this world. Such a person must be devote and pure in all his actions, even in eating, drinking and answering the calls of nature. With rare exceptions, anyone who is not like this will find the door of devotion closed in his face.

The everyday actions of a person who is overwhelmed by his or her love for Allah and the akhira are characterised by his love and they are, in fact, pure devotion. In the same way, anyone whose soul is overwhelmed by love for and preoccupation with this world, or status and authority, will be so overwhelmed by these things that no act of worship, be it prayer or fasting, will be acceptable, except in very rare cases.

The remedy for love of this world is to break the worldly desires of the self, ending its greed for this world and purifying it in preparation for the next world. This will then become the state of the heart and sincere devotion will become easier to attain. There are a great many actions where a man acts, thinking they are purely intended for Allah's pleasure, but he is deluded, for he fails to see the defects in them.

It has been related that a man was used to praying in the first row in the mosque. One day he was late for the prayer, so he prayed in the second row. Feeling embarrassment when people saw him in the second row, he realised that the pleasure and satisfaction of the heart that he used to gain from praying in the first row were due to his seeing people seeing him there and admiring him for it. This is a subtle and intangible condition and actions are rarely safe from it. Apart from those whom Allah has assisted, few are aware of such delicate matters. Those who do not realise it only come to see their good deeds appearing as bad ones on the Day of Resurrection; they are the ones referred to in Allah's words:
"And something will come to them from Allah which they had never anticipated, for the evil of their deeds will become apparent to them. (39:47-48)"
And also: "Say: Shall We tell you who will lose most in respect of their deeds? Those whose efforts were astray in the life of this world, while they thought that they were doing good works. (18:103-104)"

Yaqub said: "A devout person is someone who conceals things that are good, in the same way that he conceals things that are bad."

As-Sousi said: "True devotion is to lose the faculty of being conscious of your devotion; for someone who identifies devotion in his devotion is a person whose devotion is in need of devotion." To contemplate devotion is to admire it, and admiration is an afflication; and that which is pure is whatever is free of all afflictions. This means that one's deeds should be purified from any self-admiration concerning the actions they entail.

Ayyub said: "It is much harder for the people of action to purify their intentions than it is to execute any of their actions."
Some people have said: "To be devout for a short while is to survive for ever, but devotion is rare."

Suhail was asked: "What is the most difficult thing for the self? He said: "Devotion, when the self does not have the good fortunre of being endowed with it."

Al-Fudayl said: "Forsaking action for the sake of other people is to seek their admiration. To act for the sake of their admiration is to associate others with Allah. Devotion is when Allah frees you from both of these states.

In some Qudsi hadiths, God said:
"
O son of Adam! I created you with My own hands and raised you with my blessing and you disobey Me and draw away from Me but if you come back to Me, I will forgive you. Where can you find a god like Me and I am the most Merciful, most Forgiving

“O David! Had those who are straying away from Me known how much I love that they come back to Me and how much I love that they were near to Me and how much I love to forgive them; they would have been mad in love with Me.
O David! That is how much I care for those who are away from Me, How is My love then to those who are drawing near to Me.”

“Me and the humans and Jinn are in a great struggle. I create but they worship some one else. I give but they thank someone else.

I bestow my blessing on them but they challenge me!

I draw closer to them with My mercy, though I am no need for them but they turn away from Me with their sins though they are in great need for Me.

Those who remember; are those who are fit to be in My company. So, whoever wishes to be in my company, let him remember Me.

Those who obey Me are those who are fit to receive My love.

Those who disobey Me, I do not cast them out of My mercy. If they repent to Me then I will love them. But if they refuse (to repent) then I am their doctor. I afflict them with adversities to cleans them from evil.

A good deed with Me is rewarded ten folds and I give even more. A bad deed with Me is one and I forgive. By My Glory! Were they to ask Me to forgive it, I will forgive it.

He who comes to Me in repentance; I will come to him from afar. And he who insists and turns away from Me, I call him from near; I say to him: Where are you going? Do you have a god other than Me?”

“My servant! I brought you into existence out of nothing. And I granted you hearing, sight, brain and reasoning.

My servant! I cover you but you do not fear Me.

My servants! I remember you but you forget Me. My servant! I feel shy from exposing your sins but you do not feel shy from Me.

Now! Who is more generous than me? And who is this who knocked on My door but I did not open for him. And who is this who asked from Me but I did not give him.

Am I stingy or miser that My servant acts stingy with Me?!”

Heart is the key to happiness, sisters and brothers. It is the real House of God:

Despite its pettiness, the human heart contains the secret of the world. How tiny but great it is! Unnoticeably, it becomes great enough to belittle all the perishable enjoyments and pleasures of the present life, or turns humble enough to aggrandize tiny things. Physically and physiologically speaking, all human hearts are one and the same thing, but spiritually they are considerably diverse. Some hearts are as pure as diamond, brilliant and lively; others are as hard as rock, dark and gloomy.

The heart has its own life and death, its ups and downs. It dies and then comes back to life, comes back to life and then dies. It rises to the zenith or sinks to the bottom. At the same time, it competes with the stars in highness or touches the bottom in the lowness.

Were not the greatest of all mankind possessed of great magnanimous hearts, sincere emotions and strong firm determination?

Whosoever finds all things but loses his heart is a great loser. When the heart of a Muslim becomes pure and sound enough, Islam for him turns into heroic attitudes based on moral values and noble standards firmly established and deeply rooted in man’s heart through constant sincere devotion to the Lord All mighty Most Merciful.
