'You will burn in hell!'

Quirky, this is a pattern I am seeing in you. You want everything handed to you. How about commenting on what I said in my post. There is a lot there. Instead you say nothing and focus on one single question. And ask what it means.

It follows a pattern of what you post in general. You always want to react instead of interact. What are some possible answers to my final question. Think. And then respond.

When you are willing to start interacting with thoughtful comments (I.E. not just negating what you disagree with), you will have my thoughtful replies.

But no more handouts.

Sorry but your posts don't compute with me but no matter.

Oh well, GK old chum ... as the saying goes:
'There's none so blind as those who will not see.'

See what exactly? I don't share your version of Christianity. Of course I could be wrong, and what you believe is true, but you equally could be wrong.

You see, GK?
And for once, I wasn't even talking about Christianity!

Chin up. I'll put the coffee on ... There's a soppy old film called The Wind and The Lion which I really like. We're gonna watch it. In it, President Roosevelt is talking about America. Gotta love ya, after that! ;)

After that, I'll break out the Bushmills Black Label and we can tell each other lies.

Looking forward to it.

All I can say Quirky is that I tried my best for you. As have others. As my posts do not compute for you, and don't matter anyway, I will not bother you with any further replies. No I am not being pissy about it. I simply don't do futility.

This is where I usually get, "Yes! It's about time we evolved past that hideous practice." Indeed. It's not the government's place to force you to tithe to a certain religious cause. Similarly, it's not the government's place to force me to encourage a harlot's behavior by paying for her abortion or contraceptives.
"

I agree with most of your points here. The only place I have an issue is the inclusion at the end of a political talking point. Political talking points are almost always half truths, distortions of the truth, or outright lies.

Some facts. No one is forcing you to pay for abortion or contraceptives through your tax dollars.

Fact. No one who works for the federal government has this coverage as part of their health plans. If a federal employee wants contraceptives or an abortion they have to pay for it themselves.

Fact. The same is true for anyone in one of the branches of our U.S. military. Abortions and contraceptives must be paid for privately by the soldier.

The only case in which tax payers might be paying for these things is thru medicaid, a program that funds low income people who cannot afford services on their own. And even then it is typically only in the case of rape or incest or the danger of the mother's health. In other words, severely restricted.

Fact. The Obama Healthcare Act requires insurance companies to now pay for contraceptives and abortions. Health insurance companies are private businesses. They get no tax dollars for funding. They get their funding thru the outrageous charges they burden the American citizens with.

It really goes against my grain to get into politics anywhere except on a political forum. So I'm done. No putdown to you intended.

And what lies they shall be! We should add popcorn so we can throw it at each other when particularly exasperated. Sounds like fun! You're on.

Jolly good!:D

You are wrong. Planned Parenthood receives somewhere close to 600 million per year in taxpayer dollars. And they performed 334,000 abortions in 2011 alone; and that number has steadily risen each year, just as the tax funding they receive rises, steeply, every year.

Fact. No one who works for the federal government has this coverage as part of their health plans. If a federal employee wants contraceptives or an abortion they have to pay for it themselves.
Irrelevant. I actually had Catholic Hospitals in mind, and their battle with the Federal government along these very lines.

Whether that's true or not, (a) I never cited government workers anyway, and (b) Won't Obamacare be available to government workers? I would think so. Obamacare is, as the Supreme Court ruled, fueled by Federal tax dollars. Obamacare pays for contraception, and was intended to pay for abortions too; if not for the pesky Republican Congress fighting it. How long will that last, I wonder. Seems like a matter of time to me.

Why? do you think that?

Well does it sound credible to you? A hell which burns people forever and ever is certainly not credible, as fire doesn't take long to render a body, or anything else, to ash. A heaven where you sing the deity's praises forever is my idea of mega boredom and hell!

The more I hear about the American health system the more I am grateful for the British NHS. It isn't perfect but free to all when there is a need. Hopefully the Obama Care will go some way to helping the Americans with their health needs.

As for contraception it should be available to people who are sexually active at a reasonable cost. It is far better than having a termination. The morning after pill should be also freely available to those foolish enough to have unprotected sex, but have no wish to procreate.

Whilst on the topic of sex, I think youngsters should be given strategies to say no to sex before they are mature enough to engage in the activity responsibly. They should be encouraged to masturbate in private rather than give way to their normal sexual urges with another.

It does sound credible but as I explained earlier I understand you may be freed from hell by accepting Jesus, repenting and accepting forgiveness and that is the position to which I believed you were responding.

Regarding burning and singing, these I understand as metaphors.

I did the 'saved' bit when I was eleven. By 19 I realised it was silly nonsense as far as I was concerned.

You cut off the part where the bible is relevant. I want for the government to quit forcing me to monetarily support unbiblical acts.

I always notice how people who post about things are very selective about what they criticise about governments.

No big outcry about war and torture?

No, instead it's an obsession with sex. :D

"The saved bit" What do you mean? That seems a little non-sequitur

'Gave my heart to Jesus'. It was a non event; I never had any feeling the guy was alive in any sense of that word. I tried and tried very sincerely to communicate with him but to no avail. I gave up trying by the time I was nineteen and had much more important things in my life like being married with a baby on the way.

I agree, it is strange how some more extreme Christians make such a big deal about sex. I wonder if they are jealous that they are not getting as much of it as others!:D

Your statement is true, and it is also not complete my friend. You make it sound like PP spends all that Federal money on abortions. They do not. Not one dime of that Federal money can be used to perform abortions. And to put the abortion issue into perspective with everything else PP does, abortions represent just 3% of total services provided by PP.

According to Fact Check.org. An organization who does its best to find out the facts, irrespective of party affiliation.

Planned Parenthood

So, what has that to do with whether or not the concept of heaven and hell is credible?
