Merry christmas

Same to you two...and all the rest.

Here in Maryland they are threatening that fluffly white stuff to fall Christmas Day and Boxing day...stores are getting flooded with folks buying toilet paper and milk...the usual silly frenzy,,,

On Boxing Day, are we supposed to have fistfights? For me it's a bathrobe day -- at most ;-) -- after driving all over the place on the 25th. I'm thousands of miles from my birth family, saw none of them and felt weird about it, but my "adoptive family" out here involved me in multiple extended-family get-togethers.

My understanding is that you didn't give your servants the day off for Christmas. After all it was a big day for entertaining and traviling as you describe....visting friends and family and them visiting you. So there was cooking, cleaning, chauferring and such required.

Now of course you got plenty of presents you didn't want/need, so you simply 'boxed' them up the next day, and regifted them to your servants and gave them the day off on 'boxing' day.

I'm sure one of the queen's finest wil correct me.

(ps, I actually enjoyed holidays when I was thousands of miles away....didn't have to live upto any expectations then...)
