I enjoy phrase origins so that is what I did, I googled ... phrase origins all sixes and sevens .... and this is what I got.

Coarsely ground corn meal (usually white corn), boiled up like polenta, often served with eggs for breakfast.

AHAHAHAHA AS in kiss me grits? lol... How was Grits used? I find it so fun how now one seems to cick on our phrases they are pretty logical...
